Corporate Lobby & Office LED Display Solutions

A corporate lobby screen is judged differently from every other LED installation we do. In retail, the screen has to stop someone walking past. In a lobby, it has to look like it was part of the architecture from day one. Visitors are standing two metres away with nothing to do while they wait, which means every seam, every hot spot and every slightly mismatched panel is going to be noticed.

That single fact — close viewing, long dwell time, high scrutiny — drives the whole specification.

Why seams matter more here than anywhere else

A conventional fine-pitch LED wall is built from cabinets, and cabinets meet at a mechanical joint. Even a well-installed wall shows a faint grid under a flat grey or white image, and lobby content is full of flat backgrounds — corporate blues, brand whites, gradient fills. Those are exactly the images that expose seams.

This is the case where TFT glass-based Micro LED earns its price. Because the chips are bonded onto a glass substrate rather than assembled into cabinets, module gaps come down to around 20 microns. At a two-metre viewing distance the human eye resolves roughly 0.6mm — the seam is thirty times below the threshold. The wall reads as a single continuous surface, which is what an architect specified when they drew a rectangle on the elevation.

The second benefit is depth. Under 10mm total build means the screen can sit almost flush in a reveal rather than projecting off the wall in a 100mm box with a shadow gap that has to be detailed around.

In practice a lot of lobbies use both: a seamless wall behind reception where people look closely, and transparent film on the glass partitions where the requirement is ambient brand presence without losing light or sightlines into the office.

Glare, reflection and where the screen faces

Lobbies are usually glass-fronted, which means a large bright source — the street, the sky — sits directly opposite your screen. Two problems follow.

  • Washout. A 600 nit screen designed for a dim boardroom is unreadable opposite a glass curtain wall at midday. For a lobby facing full glazing, specify 1,500–2,500 nits with auto-dimming so it drops back in the evening.
  • Specular reflection. A glossy LED surface mirrors the entrance doors. Ask for a matte or anti-glare surface treatment. It costs very little at order stage and is impossible to retrofit.

If you have a choice of wall, put the screen on a surface perpendicular to the main glazing rather than directly opposite it. That one decision removes most of the glare problem for free.

Acoustics and heat — the two things nobody asks about

A large LED wall is a hard reflective plane. Drop one into a lobby that already has stone floors and glass walls and you will make the reverberation noticeably worse. If the space has an acoustic target, tell your acoustician the screen area before you order, not after — they can usually absorb it elsewhere in the ceiling if they know in advance.

Heat is more manageable than it used to be. A modern fine-pitch wall runs around 200–350 W per square metre at typical lobby brightness. A 12 square metre wall is therefore a 3–4 kW heat source running all day. That needs to be in the mechanical load calculation, and the screen needs air movement behind it — a fully sealed joinery reveal with no ventilation gap will shorten the life of the drivers.

Content that does not look cheap

The most expensive lobby wall in the world looks bad running a stock video loop with a logo bug in the corner. A few things that reliably work:

  • Slow-moving abstract or generative content. Nothing that cuts. Lobbies have people waiting, and fast cuts in peripheral vision are irritating.
  • Live data, done sparingly. Real operational data — deliveries, energy use, project counters — reads as confident. Fake dashboards read as decoration.
  • Content built at native resolution. A P1.2 wall 4m wide is around 3,300 pixels across. Upscaling 1080p onto it will look soft and everyone will assume the screen is the problem.
  • A quiet mode. Near-black or single-colour content outside business hours. It stops the lobby looking like a broadcast studio at 10pm and it extends panel life.
